The purpose of this study is to recognize the specific demands for change in the university curriculum that arise in a globalized knowledge-based society. In addition, we would like to explore what changes are expected regarding translation curriculum development, focusing on translation education in Korean studies departments and translation and interpretation courses.
Due to the unique characteristic of language, which itself contains cultural context and values, linguistic theory alone cannot fully cover all translation studies. Consequently, the study of translation requires more multi-level studies that intensively analyze the social and cultural political aspects inherent in language. In addition, a translation curriculum to improve communication skills should primarily focus on teaching foreign languages, intercultural communication, and improving understanding of Russian and Korean cultures.
